🎬 Movie Review: Star Wars: Episode X – Rise of the Forgotten (2027)
“Every legend has a shadow.”

Episode X launches a brand-new trilogy that dares to expand the galaxy beyond Skywalker nostalgia, while still honoring its legacy. Directed by Chloé Zhao (Eternals), this entry blends philosophical depth with jaw-dropping space opera visuals, introducing new Force mythology, political fractures, and a generation of heroes haunted by legends — and lies.

Set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, the galaxy remains fragile. Rey Skywalker (Daisy Ridley), now a quiet Jedi archivist, has gone into exile after a failed attempt to rebuild the Jedi Order. But when whispers of a mysterious dark side cult — The Null Order — begin resurfacing across the Outer Rim, a new generation of Force-sensitive misfits rise: including Korin Voss, a scavenger-turned-rebel with a past connected to the Emperor, and Rava, a Mandalorian orphan trained by Ahsoka Tano.
The film’s strength lies in world-building and moral ambiguity. There’s no galactic Empire or Death Star this time — the threat is subtler, almost philosophical. The Null Order doesn’t seek domination, but erasure — of history, identity, and the Force itself. This lets the film explore deeper questions: What is the Force without the Jedi or Sith? Who decides what is light or dark?

Visually, Rise of the Forgotten is spectacular. The ruined Jedi temples of Jedha, the red-light caverns of the Null’s fortress moon, and the shimmering hyperspace dive scenes all feel fresh yet distinctly Star Wars. Zhao’s more meditative pace allows for emotional weight, and the Force scenes — minimal, powerful, and symbolic — feel mythic in scale.
Daisy Ridley gives her best performance yet as Rey, now older, more haunted, but also wiser. Newcomers like Jacob Elordi as Korin and Storm Reid as Rava bring raw energy and complexity. Cameos from legacy characters — including Force Ghost Luke, an aged Ahsoka, and even a mysterious hologram of Leia — are tasteful and meaningful, never forced.
Final Verdict: ★★★★☆ (4.5/5)
Star Wars: Episode X – Rise of the Forgotten is the bold reset the saga needed — mature, mysterious, and emotionally resonant. It’s not just about battles or bloodlines anymore — it’s about memory, meaning, and rebuilding faith in the Force when the old ways are gone. A powerful beginning to a new era of galactic mythmaking.
