Scary Movie 6 (2025)

🎬 Movie Review: Scary Movie 6 (2025)
“No brain cells were harmed in the making of this film.”

After more than a decade in comedic hibernation, Scary Movie 6 claws its way out of the grave — and yes, it’s every bit as ridiculous, over-the-top, and gloriously dumb as fans would expect. Directed by Malcolm D. Lee, this reboot/sequel goes straight for the jugular of modern horror, pop culture, and internet insanity with a scattergun approach that throws everything at the screen — and miraculously, some of it sticks.

This time, the flimsy “plot” follows a group of clueless influencers, washed-up celebrities, and a haunted AI assistant (voiced by Pete Davidson) as they try to survive a cursed vacation home in the woods… while also dodging parodies of Smile, M3GAN, The Conjuring, Barbie, and even Wednesday. Nothing is safe. Everything is fair game.

Regina Hall makes a glorious return as Brenda, resurrected with no explanation (because logic is irrelevant here). Her timing is still gold, and she steals every scene — especially during an exorcism gone wrong involving a possessed baby and a malfunctioning Roomba. New cast members like Jenna Ortega (playing a deadpan version of herself) and Lil Nas X (as a demon-turned-pop-star) bring fresh chaos to the mix.

The jokes range from clever satire to outright toilet humor — but hey, that’s the brand. Yes, some gags fall flat, but when Scary Movie lands a punchline, it really lands. A musical number parodying Barbie and Saw? Hilarious. A “final girl” TikTok dance challenge? Surprisingly well choreographed. The movie knows exactly how dumb it is — and embraces it.

Visually, it’s more polished than past entries, with better effects and some inspired set design, especially in scenes mimicking The Nun 2 and Five Nights at Freddy’s. The sound design is punchy, the editing is chaotic, and the fourth-wall-breaking jokes come at lightning speed. And of course, there’s a mid-credit scene teasing Scary Movie 7… featuring aliens, dinosaurs, and a crossover with Fast & Furious.

Final Verdict: ★★★☆☆ (3/5)
Scary Movie 6 doesn’t reinvent the spoof genre, but it doesn’t need to. It’s loud, stupid, and full of cheap laughs — exactly what fans of the franchise are here for. If you’re looking for high art, run. But if you want 90 minutes of shameless parody, offensive jokes, and haunted smart toilets? This one’s for you.
